It is a part of your eBay life. People will come and ask questions about your product so you have to be prepared to answer them fully and promptly. When we were selling DVDs, we weren’t really on top of the game when we started. We don’t know what the story line was about, and we have no idea what the DVD entails. This prompted questions from potential buyers that we couldn’t answer. And when we couldn’t, we lost the sale.
Answering questions from your customers are vital to your sales as well. If they cannot get the answer they need, they will go elsewhere even if your price is lower that the competitor. Why? Because as a consumer, you gauge your vendor’s responsiveness to your questions and your vendor’s attention to detail.
What we did to remedy the situation was to become a member of Netflix where we don’t have to purchase the DVD but rather have the ability to view the movie and know exactly what the movie was about. Inquiries came and we were able to answer them immediately. That investment alone increased our sales dramatically.

When you become a seller on eBay, you may realize that there are lots of ways to accept payment from your buyers. You could receive a payment via Western Union, Google Checkout, Paypal, Money Order, or Certified Check. You can also accept personal checks but you have to be really careful with it.
Being a seller on eBay do require a lot of work. It demands dedication and the proper amount of customer service skills. You have to be able to leverage everything to your advantage. From the price of your merchandise to everything and anything that is connected to getting your products to your customers. With the high (and rising) cost of fuel these days, we already anticipated that all shipping costs would increase. Therefore, we made adjustments to our listing prices to cover the added cost of shipping.
When you’re browsing on the net for things you’d like to buy, do you simply look at the description and buy it or do you look at photos of the product first and then read the description. I would guess that 98% of you would want to see the picture of the item before you purchase it. It’s human nature. We want to utilize our senses when we buy something. If you’re at the mall, don’t you try on pieces of clothing before buying them? How about at the market? Don’t you touch and feel a tomato before picking them. Our senses help create a feeling of satisfaction. It adds to the experience and therefore, if you are selling something - don’t you want your “prospective” buyers to see what they are “intending” to buy?
You’re an honest business man, earning an honest pay from your honest business. Everything is kosher - the choir sings, harps play, cherubs dance. The world is perfect. NOT!
Much of my success on eBay was the early lesson that I learned while selling my DVD and CD collection. It was by chance that I realized the successful process. If you are looking to sell on eBay and expect to receive high returns immediately, you are more likely to get discouraged if no one puts a bid on your items. And why is that? You may be pricing your items too high for the common eBay user. Most of the people that log on to eBay are expecting bargain prices and therefore, they are bound to look for “great prices” or “great buys” while browsing through items. When I started, I didn’t care if my CD or DVD sold for a dollar. I just wanted to get rid of them. I listed all of the items with a starting bid of .01 cent. That got a lot of attention and my items received more bids than the same CD or DVD with a starting price higher than a penny.
It isn’t enough that you find your niche and expect to be successful in selling your items on eBay. For example, you may realize that you can knit multi-colored socks and you can be very good at it. You may be the best person who can create multi-colored socks. The question is: Is there a market for it?
Another income stream that I can advocate is selling items on eBay. Like my previous posts, I discovered eBay by chance. Of course, eBay is very popular and I’ve heard of it then but who knew I would make money using their service. I was a Power Seller and did well in selling products while others were asking me why their products didn’t sell. This is Pro Gobbler, let’s get started.
