Alright, you’ve made your money. You have received your first or fifth check from Google. You are receiving royalty checks from hosting companies you refer through your site. Big bucks ay?! Well, what are you doing with that money? Our advice is to keep the money separated from your personal accounts and keep it in an account where it will only be used for emergency or for special occasions. Why do we say that? Our experience have been, money you don’t see - you don’t spend. What we’ve done is link our PayPal account to a totally separate checking account where the money is deposited directly to it once we withdraw the funds from Paypal.
We picked a bank who offers a free checking account similar to the checking account recently being offered by WaMu. WaMu (Washington Mutual) has free checks, free check safekeeping, and free wire transfers. Imagine having no fees being charged to you just because your balance fell below a certain amount? It’s totally free. Or, you may opt for their Platinum checking account which is interest-bearing, comes with free bank checks and money orders, and free Identity Theft Services, as well.
If you are saving your money, save it at a bank that will help you save it and not charge you for it. It’s another way you can get to financial freedom much faster.
Remember: It’s not how much you earn - it’s how much you keep.
