People are indeed adventurous and will always think of ways to explore the wonders of technology. Have you ever heard of Wingsuiting? I wasn’t familiar with it until recently while watching a gazillion Youtube vids, I realized that this is another extreme sport similar to skydiving or an even better sport like hang gliding. What’s the difference? They don’t use parachutes but rather a wingsuit designed almost similar to that of a flying squirrel.
The wingsuit has webs between the legs and the arms that allows air to flow through the body and let you glide from thousands of feet up in the air after jumping off an airplane. It looks very exciting and probably enough to get your adventurous appetite fed for one year. The design of the wingsuits was aided by a company called Flomerics.
Not only to they specialize in wingsuit design, they also use electronic system simulation to provides solutions for design problems associated with the cooling of electronics and selecting correct electronic cooling fans. Using a the same technology, it simulates how air flow affects wingsuits worn by base jumpers. The aid of this tool helped develop the wingsuit and make it safer and discover problems it may hold before it is even used by humans. It can calculate how the base jumpers can control the suit as they glide.
